Summer Camp
Camp Cost: $250
Camp Hours: 9am till 3pm Early and Late pickup/drop off available on request.
Novice Camp - This camp is geared towards those new to horse back riding. The basics from the ground up are taught from grooming to saddling to vocabulary comprehension. There will be crafts and lots of water game fun! We even have a painting contest on the horses.
Intermediate Camp - This camp is geared to those kids already familiar with the basic knowledge of a horse. It is best to already be controlled at the trot or jog as we really concentrate on more complex maneuvers to improve the students overall riding. There will be relay races and lots of trail riding. There will be a basic anatomy class as well as basic first aid. This is also the level we begin to teach a little of the physiology behind how horses think, so our riders will have a better understanding of the animals they are choosing to work with. Depending on the group we may have a ride in the national forest.
Advanced Camp (must have instructor approval before registering) - This camp is for our well seasoned riders. We have a nutritional guest speaker come teach body grading and nutrition comprehension. A vet will come teach basic
heath knowledge as well as give a dental demonstration. Our Farrier also comes and teaches a hoof care class along with giving a demonstration of a lameness exam. We travel to watch the State Drill Finals. There will be a ride into the national forest to Lake Conroe. There will also be a business segment where the kids will be expected to learn a bit about the financial side of both owning a horse and running a business. Selected riders from this camp are offered to come back throughout the summer and serve as junior counselors at other camps and on trail rides. This is a very intense hands on learning camp which is why prior approval must be given by an instructor.
